Operational Strategies to Get You
Out of the Trenches And Onto the Stage

Being a professional speaker can feel like a juggling act.

You deliver an exceptional experience on stage, manage client relationships, chase event logistics, track business metrics, and try to adapt to ever-changing marketing trends.

You want more streamlined systems and processes, but finding the time and the right expertise for setup can be daunting. Hiring an assistant, or the right vendors, might help, yet locating someone well-versed in the speaking world is no easy task.

The real truth is, there's no universal solution for operational systems in the speaking industry, but with over three decades of hands-on experience in operational management and the event industry, we can help you select and implement the ones that are right for you.

The Solution ....

The Right Systems
The Right People
The Right Context

Three "Easy" Steps to Operational Efficiency
(don't worry ... we can help)

01

Get the right systems and processes in place.

If you are bogged down by the day to day operations of running your business it is likely because you have the wrong systems and processes in place OR you aren't maximizing the resources you have. There's no universal solution for operational systems in the speaking industry, but with decades of hands-on experience in operational management and the speaking industry, we can help you select and implement the ones that are right for you.

02

Partner with the right people.

Speaking can be a lonely business. Your message is personal and it's hard to trust others to honor it the way you would. Still, you can't do it all alone. Choosing the right staff and vendors to support your business can be one of the most critical - and often the most difficult -  things that you can do to accelerate your business.

03

Train within the context of the speaking industry.

After assembling the right individuals, one common area of continued difficulty is the lack of adequate training in the intricacies of the industry. The speaking field involves a multitude of stakeholders and unspoken conventions can be overlooked when your team isn't trained properly. It's second nature to you, but intentional training can make all the difference in you team's success.

Before coming to Powell Speakers in 2023, Kelli Hunter began her career in operational management within the nonprofit and higher education space. In 2013 Kelli took her first job in speaker management. Internally Kelli thought, “I’m not sure that’s a real job,” but she decided to keep her mouth shut and see what she might learn.

Over the next ten years Kelli would work for two speaker management companies and run the back-end office for a busy speaker and coach. She has helped launch the speaking careers of NY Times Bestselling Authors, National Geographic Explorers, and many all around incredible human beings.

Drawing from 20 years of experience and a diverse background in event planning, C-level executive support, leadership development, and speaker management Kelli is able to offer a unique perspective on the nuances of the speaking industry AND those who hire speakers.

Kelli is known for her attention to detail, appreciation for effective systems, and her ability to see the big picture and break it down into simple steps. Kelli resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Outside of her professional life, she can be found chasing her two kids, exploring new recipes for her husband to cook, singing show tunes slightly off-key, and trying not to get lost in the woods while out for a run.
